Do I need to register as self-employed?
If you earn more than £1,000 from working for yourself in a tax year, you need to register with HMRC. You have until 5 October after the end of that tax year, so there's no need to panic, but don't leave it to the last minute either. It's free, it's online, and once it's done you're set up for good.
